Regardless of whether you’re just moving for the first time into your dorm or you’ve been living there for a while, you know how important it is to get things organized in such a small space! Items just laying around the dorm room can cause so much frustration not only for you but for other people that you might be sharing your room with. Thankfully, there are many affordable organization and storage options thanks to which you will be able to put everything in its proper place!

1. Nightstand

First things first! As you wake up you might want to quickly check your messages to see what’s going on but you can’t find your phone! With a nightstand organizer, all your essentials such as your phone, rings, earrings, wallet, and much more can be quickly accessed and you can get going with your day!

2. Rolling Storage Cart

As your textbooks, notebooks and stationery is piling up, it can be super tough to keep track of everything and to put it all in one place. You don’t want to buy a bookcase- that would be awesome if you are for example getting ready for your first apartment (hyperlink), but for a dorm room that is overkill. Luckily, there’s a perfect solution to this and that is a rolling storage cart, in it, you can place your textbooks and notebooks you don’t need for the day and you can quickly access them. Moving it is super easy as you just roll it wherever you want. We love it!

3. Storage Cube Organizers

This is one of our favorite storage options on this list! This is mostly because of the fact that the cubes themselves are collapsible meaning if you’re not using them, you can just effortlessly collapse them, and that way they will not take up any space! They are a great option especially if you don’t have any under-bed storage.

4. Mini Fridge

One of the most effective ways you can save up money while in college is to cook and store your own meals. Each month you can save up to hundreds of dollars if you have a plan a stick to it. Part of the plan is to have a place where you can store your meals for multiple days. Of course, you don’t need a full-on fridge! Thankfully, there are mini-fridges where you will be able to store your meals and beverages! When you are hungry, your food is right there and you don’t need to spend money on the cafeteria food!\

5. Tea and Coffee Organizer

Even though it might not seem like it, the tea and coffee organizer is so similar to the mini fridge in a way it helps you to save money! If you have one of these you can put all of your coffee and tea packs in there and can prep them right in your dorm- you don’t need to get a tea or coffee to go. As you see, the mini fridge along with this organizer is a genius combo for saving money on food and drinks while in college

6. Shoe storage

One of the things you will be battling is the lack of space while in your dorm room, so when it comes to storing your shoes, it can be a challenge! That’s why we love this hanging shoe organizer that stacks the shoes vertically which saves up so much space!

7. Under-bed Storage

Under-bed storage options are very similar to the creative shoe storage ones that save so much space! A lot of your clothes and other things you might not need immediately or during a given week can be easily put into these containers and can be retrieved at any time you need them!

8. Mirror Organizer Storage

Another way to save significant space at your dorm is to ‘kill two birds with one shot’ so to speak! You can get a mirror and also a mirror organizer in one piece! When you want to access your jewelry, makeup, and perfumes, you can easily ‘just open’ the mirror! This is a lifesaver!

9. Ottoman storage

Do you know these moments whenever you have your friends visiting you in your dorm room and they want to sit down but there might not be a lot of spaces where they can do it? This can be frustrating! You want to be hospitable but in such a small space it can be a true challenge. That is why we love the ottoman storage options because not only you’re able to store quite a bit in there, your friends can sit on them as well! We love this!

10. Clothes Hangers

Hangers are a true necessity for your dorm! They help your clothes to breathe and help you to pick your outfit for the day especially if you organize them by occasion or color!

11. Over the bed shelf

We love over-the-bed shelves because they are one of the few places in your dorm room where you can put photos of your family, friends, and your boyfriend! You can also put there your favorite book that you’re currently reading and also flowers! Since they are attached to walls they don’t require space on the ground and in that way they are a great option for storage!

12. Sheets with pockets

While living at the door, you really need to maximize each inch of space which is a great life skill to learn as you will, later on, live in your apartment or house! One way to do that is to get sheets that have pockets in them where you can store a few small items that you might need to quickly access.

13. Shelves Storage

Finally, for items that you need to access quickly and also some of your decorative items, you will need some kind of shelf storage. This is great in you being able to showcase some of the aesthetic items you might have while easily storing other things like books.
